La Halle Grenette: Electro Choc 3 Festival / Le MaTriCe
Bourgoin-Jallieu, France 03-04/2008
An original & remix work using excerpts from Jim Jarmusch's film, Coffee & Cigarettes, for Electro-Choc 3 Festival.
My original idea was to have the viewer sit at a table and across from them would be a monitor with the film actors looking at them. Both the table and objects on the table (cup, spoon, etc.) would be in white and table scenes from the film would be projected on it from above. Another idea was to make the table like a black and white checker board with some squares raised up (3D). Instead the table was placed on the floor and the objects (cups, spoons, etc.) were suspended above it, and all film remixes were projected on it (the soundtrack was also remixed). This idea was one out four proposed.
Note: This installation is also in conjunction with the Coffee & Cigarettes Remix show and a jam session with the BTS of Bourgoin-Jallieu (see both videos below).
Part of a group exhibit with the artist collective Le MaTriCe: Benoit Voarick, Pascal Caparros, Cyril Darmedru, Sebastien Eglème, Emmanuel Martin & Julie Meitz. A special thanks to Olivier Lossi.
