1265 Griswold Detroit - My Loft
Detroit, Michigan US 06/1998
An individual project proposed for my film study class at Wayne State University, professor Charlie Meyers. The show focused on the creative work process,10% Inspiration, 90% Work. I added the word 'squared' to the title because it's always much more work than inspiration.
The show involved the dismantling of my previous show, T.V. or Sex? and a re-examination of it, the construction of this show itself, and completing an older film work called, Weekend Artist, that I had abandonned years ago.
About Weekend Artist: Drained by the 9 to 5 job and struggling to be an artist on the weekends. The film was originally shot on Super 8mm film on location at Spotted Dog Bar & Grill in Windsor, Canada, 1993.
Various sets with video, film & art objects:
One T.V. looped the dismantling of my past show. Two 16mm film projectors and two monitors looped the various work processes involved in making this show. One Super 8mm film projector looped outtakes from my unfinished Super 8mm film and one monitor displayed the completed work; the incomplete film was transferred and edited on video.
Note 1: This was another one of my involved Detroit shows, so more details to come...
